i have about 00 worth of credit card debt built up from college that i want to pay off quickly. the interest rates are killing me and i find it harder and harder to pay them, even the min. payment. of course this has had a negitive effect on my credit score so i’m finding it difficult to get a personal loan to pay them off. Any suggestions on how to get a handle on this debt? how about any place that will give you a loan with a low credit score?

I acquired credit card debt in the years between 2001 and 2006 and have been making a point of paying my credit card bill on time since then, and making more than the minimum payment (far more when possible) in an attempt to get out of that debt at some point before my age reaches triple digits. My credit card company seems to arbitrarily apply mysterious charges after the fact, and the end result is that I’ve literally made 0 *LESS* of a dent into my debt than I thought I did, and for that matter than it appeared I did on the bank’s website a couple of days after I made the payment. It’s exceedingly frustrating and I’m at my wit’s end with these people. Can anyone tell me whether they recommend declaring bankruptcy or not (and why), or other options. (Bearing in mind that I have no, and I mean *NO* interest in acquiring other credit cards.) Thanks in advance…
Lowiezowie, thanks for the advice. These are things I need to look into because it’s more than a bit exaperating dealing with this as you know. It seems like they can and do fabricate reasons to charge extra fees without any real transparency or accountability.

I have a 00 debt with Capital One. I got in financial trouble in college and I was not able to pay it off in time. My debt has bounced around to several different law firms and the new one is trying to make me pay 400 a month until I pay it off. If I don’t they said I would be served. Is this threat real and how often do they come after people this hard. I basically have nothing they could put a lien on as I am still in huge financial trouble.

Right now, I have two main credit cards. One has a 7500 credit limit and the other has a 6000 credit limit. The balances on these are 7800 and 6700 respectfully. They are way over the limit and I want to get them down quickly. Should I put all my efforts into one of them or split it up between the both of them? Also, both interest rates are about the same.

Any tips, or suggestions for the fastest way to get out of credit card debt without consolidating or filing bankrupt? Also any tips on raising my credit score?

im about 25k in credit card debt from school and a bunch of family and personal things and there are about a thousand commercials or websites claiming to get you out of debt but i have a pretty good idea they will all ruin my credit and any chance i have at buying a house in the future. if anyone has a suggestion or a tip for what they have done in the past that will hurt my credit score the least i will be grateful. thanks

Any tips, suggestions, ideas to help pay off credit card debt in which so many Americans get themselves in.

I have a debt of about just 00 which was about 00 in the summer, I’m currently working and paying more than the minimum. Is it better just to pay the minimum, set the aside money each month then pay off the whole thing?
