Where can I get my first credit card with no credit history?
Question by miss_couture: Where can I get my first credit card with no credit history?
I am a 19 year old college student with a good job. I am trying to apply for a credit card but everyone is denying my application because I have no credit history, even cards that are supposed to be for students. Is there any way to get a credit card if I have no credit history without having to get my parents to co-sign? Thanks!

Answer by My Take on It
It won’t happen
New laws were enacted in February that if you are under 21, you have to make a certain amount of money or have your parents cosign.
Get a secured card from your bank.

I am trying to get a credit card but I have absolutely nothing on my credit. Every time I apply for a credit card it always say that I have insufficient credit history. I have tried Capitol one as well. How do I get a credit card?

If you have a good relationship with your bank, you go there in person and ask them to help you get a card. You want one with a low limit (0 is fine) and no annual fee. Speak with a manager if necessary.

Is this credit card a good deal – Your advice needed?
Question by Amanda: Is this credit card a good deal – Your advice needed?
My grandmother got a credit card in the mail from Capitol One. On the phone they said the annual interest is 18%. No interest until April and 22% interest on cash (I’m assuming cash with drawl from an ATM)
She wants to use the card to pay off 2 loans with very high interest. One of the loans has an interest rate of 170 dollar for only 300 dollars borrowed. The other loan is pretty much the same. Its one of those check n go installment loans and the other is a payday loan. She just wants to save on interest. She could pay them off in cash, but is interested in building her credit and paying a lower interest rate.
Do you think this is a good idea?

Answer by bdancer222
The credit card interest rate is pretty high but it would be a whole lot less than those payday loans which tend to be in the 6000+% range.
Paying off the loans would probably be considered a cash advance and would be at the higher interest rate. Plus there’s probably a 3% fee for the cash advance. Still would be cheaper than the payday loans.
Once your grandmother gets this credit card and pays off those payday loans, she should concentrate on getting the credit card paid off as quickly as possible. Make more than the minimum payment. The faster she pays off the credit card balance, the less interest she will have to pay.

What are the benefits of getting a prepaid debit card?
Question by honeypepper: What are the benefits of getting a prepaid debit card?
I don’t have good credit so I wanted to get a prepaid debit card. Which one is the best and where can I get it?
Best answer:
Answer by cymakk
Prepaid debit cards and pre-paid credit cards can help you control your spending. A reloadable debit card allows you to only spend up to the amount you have pre-deposited into the account. If you tend to overspend or like to control your spending, then a pre-paid debit card could be a good choice for you. Also, if you have bad credit and can’t get an unsecured credit card, a prepaid debit card is also a good choice. To apply or learn more, you may go here: http://www.creditcarda-z.com/prepaid.asp

Whats a good credit card to apply for with poor credit?
Question by Debi C: Whats a good credit card to apply for with poor credit?
I guess I worded this wrong…I am looking for a department store, same day credit (i.e. Sears, Target, Wal-Mart, etc..) Who is the easiest to get?
Best answer:
Answer by Lion J
Most companies are wise to deny credit to poor credit risks.
Pay off your debt, and you will have the first key to financial freedom.
Buy life insurance, and you’ll have the second key.
Buy a house, and you’ll have the third.
Then, buy rental property, and have someone else make the payments for you.
You need to be making money while you sleep, and stay the hell out of credit card debt.

Q&A: Can i re-build credit after a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy with an Auto lease instead of a Credit Card?
Question by Chris B: Can i re-build credit after a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy with an Auto lease instead of a Credit Card?
I recently declared Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. I re-affirmed my Auto Lease. Will this help to re-build my credit score? I’ve heard the “get a credit card and use some and pay-off or keep 10%” idea. But can the lease have the same effect without having to open another credit card agian? I am looking for the easiest way to build credit without a credit card. But if i have to, i guess i will.

I went through the same thing back in 2001 and what you need to do is call your lender and make sure that they continue to report to the bureaus and then yes it will help reestablish your credit.
Using a credit card for every day things, never exceeding 30% of your limit and paying it off in full before the due date will also greatly improve your score.

No – but this practice known as piggybacking won’t work soon cause all the rating agencies if they haven’t already are in the process of negating the effects of piggybacking.

Question by Harvinder G: can someone tell which credit card are good for people with bad credit.?
apart from capital one , vanquis , barclays intial, aqua and monument is there any other credit card for people with bad credit.
Best answer:
Answer by Rick B
NO credit card is good for people with bad credit. If someone is not able to handle credit, then why would they want a credit card??
Pay cash for the items that you can afford, and delay purchasing things that you can’t. Use a debit card if you don’t want to use cash. Credit is not the answer.
